French’s Mustard Ice Cream

HT_FRENCHS_COOKIE_hpEmbed_16x9_992

Now….I like Ice Cream and I like Mustard…..

But the two together????  Not so sure!  But in case you are….here is some info on it and the recipe for you to make some yourself!

MUSTARD ICE-CREAM

I scream, you scream. Wait… French’s Ice Cream? In honor of National Mustard Day, and after 115 years of using mustard to add something bold and unique to standard fare, we thought, “What about ice cream?”

One scoop and you’ll realize the tangy flavor of French’s® Classic Yellow Mustard was always meant for ice cream. Serve this homemade, no-churn version with pieces of salty-sweet pretzel brittle (careful, it’s addicting!) and enjoy an American classic like it’s never been done before.

My Mom knows me so well….and my obsession with serial killers.  So obviously when she saw this article about helping the FBI solve some murders done by the most prolific serial killer in America….she knew I would be interested.

Here is what she sent

The FBI has named 79-year-old Samuel Little the most prolific serial killer in American history—and he would have gotten away with the vast majority of his murders, if not for a Texas Ranger.

As Sharyn Alfonsi reports this week on “60 Minutes,” Ranger James Holland had a hunch about Little. Holland suspected that Little might be guilty of far more murders than a recent conviction accused him of, and though Little had never confessed to anyone before, he slowly began opening up to Holland. Over the course of 700 hours of interviews, the tally finally ballooned to its gruesome total: Little confessed to killing 93 people from 1970 to 2005.

Little told Holland he targeted women on the fringes of society—prostitutes and drug addicts whose deaths he believed the police would not work hard to investigate. He remembers each of his victims in startling detail. He can recall a victim’s facial features, elements of their conversation, topography of the landscape where he dumped her body—even the last meal she ate.

Law enforcement officials have corroborated dozens of Little’s confessions with Jane Doe cases. In just over a year, law enforcement has solved 50 cold cases, all due to the details sifted from the elderly serial killer’s memory.

“These were really, truly cases that have been dormant for decades,” Alfonsi told 60 Minutes Overtime. “And so now the hope is that there are still some remaining cases. Ranger Holland’s hoping somebody might know something that could help him close the rest of the cases.”

HOW TO HELP THE FBI:

The FBI is now releasing several videos of Little talking in detail about murders that police have not been able to corroborate. They hope that, through tips from the public, they will eventually be able to identify the victims.

“We believed if Samuel Little described the victims, where he met the victims, and where he left the victim’s body in his own words, it may help a family member, it may help a retired detective, a newspaper reporter, someone who lived in the neighborhood to come forward and provide us with information,” Holland said.

The FBI asks anyone with information to call the agency at 1-800-225-5324.

Sometimes…I just don’t understand this world….

Here is the article:

Man arrested in Singapore Changi Airport for buying ticket just to wave his wife off at the gate:

(CNN) — With an on-site butterfly dome, cactus garden and four-story slide, Singapore’s Changi airport regularly tops rankings of the best airports in the world.
But some travelers are taking a little too much of a shine to it.
The Singapore Police Force has issued a warning to residents not to “misuse” their boarding passes after a man was arrested for buying a ticket to walk his wife to the gate.
The misuse of boarding passes is an offense in Singapore, where transit areas are considered “protected places.” Anyone accessing the gate-side areas at Changi without intending to fly can be prosecuted under Singapore’s Infrastructure Protection Act and fined up to S$20,000 (US$14,300) or imprisoned for up to two years. Thirty three people have been arrested under the legislation in the first eight months of 2019.
Police said the 27-year-old bought a ticket purely to walk his wife to the gate and had “no intention to depart Singapore.” In a Facebook post they added that “passengers who enter the transit areas with a boarding pass should only be there for the purpose of traveling to their next destination.”
If the idea that anyone would actively want to spend time in an airport sounds odd, you haven’t flown through Singapore. When Changi’s new Jewel terminal opened in April, it made headlines around the globe for its 40-meter waterfall (the world’s largest indoor one), a 14,000-square-meter Canopy Park, complete with a suspension bridge, topiary and mazes, and one of Asia’s largest indoor gardens with 3,000 trees and 60,000 shrubs.
Overstaying your welcome in the terminal is a thing, here. In 2016, a Malaysian man was jailed after he spent 18 days in Changi, forging boarding passes to gain entry to nine airport lounges. Shortly afterward, a couple was arrested for booking flexible tickets to gain access to the Changi shopping mall, where they bought an iPhone 7.
Other passengers have been known to book refundable tickets which they cancel before the flight takes off, having enjoyed the airport.

Kamuysaurus Japonicus

fig3-fossilized-skeleton-1024x452

My mom knows me so well!  I LOVE DINOSAURS!!  And I am not a Bandwagon Jumper-Oner….I liked them well before Jurassic Park!  LOL

And because of this love….my mom sent me an article about the Kamuysaurus Japonicus.  A pretty cool dinosaur that was just recently discovered!!

Here is the article:

A new kind of dinosaur has been unearthed in Japan, and it’s the largest dinosaur skeleton ever found in the country. Researchers believe the bones help to explain the origin and evolution of dinosaurs in the region.

The dinosaur was nicknamed Milawaryu, after the excavation site, but scientists later gave it a proper classification, Kamuysaurus japonicus, meaning the deity of Japanese dinosaurs.

An analysis of 350 bones and 70 taxa of hadrosaurids determined that the dinosaur belongs to the Edmontosaurini clade, and is closely related to Kerberosaurus fossils unearthed in Russia and Laiyangosaurus found in China.

Kamuysaurus japonicus has a few unique characteristics that separate it from other dinosaurs it’s closely related to. The cranial bone notch is positioned lower, the jaw bone is particularly short, and a short row of spines on its back is more tilted compared to others, the researchers found.

According to researchers, the dinosaur was an adult measuring 8 meters (over 26 feet) long. They estimated its weight as either about 4.5 U.S. tons, if it walked on two legs, or 5.8 U.S. tons, if it walked on all four.

The study helps connect the dots to the origin of the Edmontosaurini clade of dinosaurs and how it may have migrated across North America to Asia, which were connected at the time by present-day Alaska.

The research also suggests the dinosaur’s ancestors seemed to prefer coastal areas, a rare habitat for dinosaurs during that period. The ocean habitat may have played an important role in the diversification of the hadrosaurids in its early evolution.

Mom Lost Toes….

There are times…when I truly appreciate the fact that my mom is looking out for me.  And then….there are times like this one!  Her comment on the email:

“Photos are gross! But this is something you and I need to be aware of.”

So I click on the link and the headline reads:

Mom lost toes, nearly died after dismissing sepsis symptoms as common cold

And then I see this:

Ruth-Kent-1-Kennedy-News-Service

What The Bloody Hell!!!?????  And from that point on…I was so grossed out…I had to continue on and read the article!!!  And since I had to read it…so do you:

A mother in England is speaking out to warn others about the dangers of sepsis after she mistook her symptoms for a common cold, only to end up in the intensive care unit days later with an infection that claimed her toes and nearly killed her.

Ruth Kent recently told Kennedy News and Media that she initially shook off the chills and aches last November, but when she started feeling pain in her feet and having trouble with incontinence, she knew she needed help

Kent told the news agency that her son saved her life by calling for paramedics when he found her “blue” on the couch.

“I deteriorated very, very quickly,” the 53-year-old told Kennedy News. “It was really scary. My son saved my life that day. If he hadn’t been there, I would have been a goner.”

Kent was rushed to Northampton General Hospital where she was treated for meningococcal meningitis, but the infection had turned septic and began causing her organs to shut down, she said. She spent the next several weeks fighting for her life as doctors warned her family to prepare for the worst.

Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection and is considered a life-threatening emergency, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Sepsis occurs when an existing condition triggers a chain reaction throughout the body, and can quickly cause tissue damage, organ failure or even death. Anyone can develop sepsis, but those age 64 and older, children younger than 1, or patients with chronic medical conditions and weakened immune systems are most at risk.

Kent said her knowledge of sepsis was limited, and that she can’t remember much other than her hands and feet going black during her two-week stay in intensive care. She also feared she would lose her eyesight.

“I remember seeing people come and having to put the gown and masks on,” she told Kennedy News. “I could see them through the window. My brother came over from New York the following Friday with his wife. They were preparing for the worst.”

Kent made it out of the intensive care unit, but her nose, fingers and toes had turned black from the infection. She was released from the hospital several weeks later with all limbs intact, and her nose and fingers eventually recovered, but weeks later nurses recognized an infection in her feet during a bandage change at her home.

“My feet started to smell and they did some swabs which showed an infection,” Kent told the outlet. “In January 2019, when nurses came to change my dressings, they took them off and my feet were green with gangrene. I’ve lost seven of my toes and have three little stumps left. They had to take the side of my feet off.”

Ruth-Kent-3-Kennedy-News-Service

Despite the extreme measures, Kent is not out of the woods yet. She said she still struggles with fatigue, and can’t walk more than a few steps. She said she joined support groups and has been talking to other amputee patients, but is urging patients who have concerns about possible infection to speak up earlier than she did.

“I had no inclination that it was sepsis,” she told the news agency of her infection.” “If I’d have known more I might have gone to the doctors earlier.”

The Netflix Penis Drawing

Netflix-penis-drawing

Ok…so I am a little late to the game on this one since I think it happened in 2017…but here is the scoop:  An artist of a kids TV show on Netflix decided to draw a penis on a tree during one of the episodes. And…it made a mother mad. Not my mom though….she sent me the article complete with pictures and videos! LOL  Here is the original article:

Last week, Netflix released the first season of American Vandal, an eight-episode documentary parody of true crime stories like The Jinx and Making a Murderer in which the central mystery revolves around someone spray-painting penises on teachers’ cars in the school’s parking lot. But now it looks like Netflix has a real life dick mystery on their hands, because an angry mother has noticed that an artist snuck a drawing of an erect penis into the background of a children’s cartoon that airs on the streaming service.

BoingBoing picked up the mother’s reaction to the picture on Facebook, where she apparently said, “I know I’m not going crazy and I am aware that something like this shouldn’t be in a kids’ show whatsoever. I’m extremely disgusted by it; there should be no reason my children have to see something like this. I don’t know if they’re gonna do something about this or what but there’s no reasons why this should be in this show.” (The post itself is private, so that quote is relayed from The Mirror, who apparently has someone on staff who’s friends with this woman.)

For the record, as of the time of this writing, Netflix has not done anything about it…yet. Since I’m doing important journalistic work here, I checked on the veracity of this claim myself, and indeed, the dong is clearly visible in the background of an episode of Maya the Bee, as seen in the screenshot at the top of this page. For anyone wanting to see it for yourselves, it’s in episode 35 of season one, and can be seen inside a log at the 18:45 mark.

Update: The controversy must have reached the ears of Netflix executives, because the episode in question has now been removed from the streaming site.

The Netflix Penis Drawing Isn’t An Isolated Incident

While we aren’t certain of the reasoning behind why an artist would decide to include this dick-drawing in the background of a children’s TV series, this is far from the first time something like this has happened. While many of the claims that have popped up against companies like Disney are erroneous and falsified products of the digital age or unprovable whispers from oversensitive parental groups, there were a number of incidents that were proven to be true.

  • Charles Shows, who worked at Walt Disney Studios in the 1950s and ’60s, recounted in his book that he and a few other employees intended to test Disney’s notorious eye for detail by slipping a single frame of a naked woman into a reel of a Mickey Mouse cartoon they were screening for him. Sure enough, Walt spotted it. But that frame was never meant to be seen by the public.
  • Years later, a home video release of Disney’s The Rescuers was recalled in 1999 due to the discovery of a couple of frames of a real photograph of a topless woman in the background of one shot of the lead mice characters in the movie. (We can’t publish those screenshots here, but you can see them at Snopes.) Disney representatives at the time claimed the photograph was inserted not by one of their artists, but by someone in the post-production process.
  • Claims of an erect penis being hidden in the undersea castle in posters and the VHS cover of The Little Mermaid are complicated to grapple with. Snopes says they spoke to the artist, who told them the dick-shaped tower was an unfortunate coincidence. In any case, the story that it was inserted by a disgruntled artist angry at Disney about being laid off by the studio doesn’t hold water, because that artist worked for a third party company. But still…that kind of looks like a dick to me.

  • And you’ve likely heard the one about the word “sex” being visible in The Lion King when Simba lays down on the grass and kicks up a bunch of grass and particles where the letters can maybe be spotted…if you’re looking hard enough. You can decide for yourself if you believe that claim by watching the video.

Taylor Davis – Can’t Take His Eyes Off You

I am not a huge fan of Baseball.  DON’T KILL ME or SEND ME DEATH THREATS!  But I am a HUGE fan of my hometown boys the Indianapolis Indians and do enjoy going to their games.  Part of the reason is because of how personable the players are with their fans.  And although this player now plays for the CHICAGO CUBS…he shows us exactly why these players are lovable!

godvine--news-anchors-crack-up-at-baseball-players-faces-on-camera

These news anchors cannot stop laughing at this jokester of a baseball player. As you watch this video of Iowa Cubs catcher Taylor Davis you will see how funny these camera shots really are.

This player has a lot of fun finding the video camera in the crowd of baseball fans and making funny faces at it. I have no idea how he does it. It seems like every time the camera is recording a closeup of him, he somehow knows.

It’s refreshing to see a sports player have a sense of humor while continuing to play such a serious game. This video had me giggling so much I almost cried!

Now…you have to watch two different videos to appreciate this!

The Flintstones – Public Nuisance

fileupload-1552932968132-articleLarge

It is pretty sad when people object to you building Dinosaurs, Woolly Mammoths and Fred Flintstone piss off the neighbors!!!  Check this out!

Design

The house was designed by architect William Nicholson and built in 1976 as one of several experimental domed buildings using new materials. It was constructed by spraying shotcrete onto steel rebar and wire mesh frames over inflated aeronautical balloons. It has approximately 2,700 sq ft (250 m2) of living space including three bedrooms, one accessed via a spiral staircase inspired by an ice-cream cone that at the top is the same diameter as the room, and two bathrooms, and has a two-car garage. All the interior surfaces are rounded, and the master bathroom has a floor of rocks instead of tiles. Originally off-white in color, the house was repainted deep orange in 2000, and one of the domes was later painted purple.

Nicknames

The house is known popularly as “The Flintstone House”, from The Flintstones, a Hanna-Barbera Productions animated cartoon series of the early 1960s about a Stone Age family. It is also known as the Dome House, the Gumby House, the Worm Casting House, the Bubble House, and “The Barbapapa House”, from Barbapapa, a character and series of books created by Annette Tison and Talus Taylor in the 1970s.

Disrepair, restoration and remodeling

By the mid-1980s the house had fallen into disrepair, as water runoff from higher on the mountainside damaged the foundation, causing the walls to crack. After failed attempts at sealing the cracks, it was extensively restored in 1987.

San Francisco Bay Area architect Eugene Tsui undertook to remodel the house during the first decade of the 2000s. The results of Tsui’s remodel appear as the “Edises Kitchen” project, pictured on Tsui’s website. Tsui’s original concept for the remodel, including a proposed complementary second residence on the property, is detailed in depth on his earlier site.

In late 2017, new owners installed large oxidized steel sculptures of dinosaurs, a woolly mammoth, a giraffe, and Fred Flintstone in the yard.

Complaint

The house was unpopular with some neighbors, and inspired the formation of a local architectural review board. In March 2019, the town of Hillsborough filed a complaint against the current owner of the house, Florence Fang. The complaint alleges that the current owner’s modifications are a “public nuisance” and that she did not receive the proper permits for her modifications. In March 2019, Fang retained the law offices of former San Francisco Mayor Joseph L. Alioto and Angela Alioto to respond to the Hillsborough Complaint.

Do The Mashed Potato

Creamy-Mashed-Potatoes-4

Wow!  Criminals are getting kinda….weird these days!!!  Sounds like something you might see on one of the Hallmark Mystery Movies!!  Check this out!

It’s a mashed Mississippi mystery.

Jackson residents were mystified after bowls of mashed potatoes suddenly appeared on their cars, porches and mailboxes.

Jordan Lewis described the Belhaven neighborhood as a quirky one, with residents decorating road signs and putting Christmas trees in potholes.

But the probe into the puzzling potato problem is even new for them.

Lewis told WLBT-TV she spotted her first bowl of mashed potatoes on her car’s windshield.

“I walked outside yesterday morning at 7 a.m. and I got in my car and that’s when I noticed a white bowl on my windshield. It was full of rainwater. I threw it away and I was grossed out by it,” she said. “I just thought this is a harmless prank by some kids or college students in the area.”

Michaela Lin said she found a bowl of mashed potatoes on her mailbox. She said some of the potato-finders have connections to Belhaven University, a local private Christian university, which may be a clue.

“So far I have realized some of the ‘victims’ of the mashed potatoes are actually staff or Belhaven students or alumni. I feel like there has to be a connection there!” Lin told WLBT-TV.

However, Sebastian Bjernegard said some residents fear there’s a more sinister message behind the potatoes.

“Some people were thinking maybe the mashed potatoes were poisoned to kill animals,” he told WJTV, noting he almost stepped into a bowl of potatoes Tuesday. “I didn’t taste it. I have a three-second rule, so I didn’t touch it. But some people were worried.”

It was not immediately clear if anyone has eaten the potatoes. News outlets reported residents have not alerted law enforcement.
